Marketing for Attorneys using Web 2.0?

Have the fields of marketing for attorneys and internet marketing for attorneys embraced Web 2.0 methods?  According to a report in the ABA Journal Law News Now, most lawyers have been slow to adopt Web 2.0 in their practices: http://tinyurl.com/5fwgrv. The ABA's annual Legal Technology Survey Report, based on data from about 850 lawyers across the U.S., indicates that very few lawyers actually read blogs; very few actually create their own blogs.  Most lawyers simply do not know about RSS feeds, and they tend to receive information via Web 1.0 news websites and e-mail newsletters.  While social networks are only starting to catch on among lawyers, most lawyers don't subscribe to podcasts or watch online videos.  According to the ABA Journal, lawyers have typically been slow to embrace new technologies, and lawyers will likely be slow in embracing Web 2.0.

Those involved in marketing for attorneys and internet marketing for lawyers have a chance to not only be on the leading edge, but to be on the "bleeding edge" by adopting Web 2.0 technologies.  While marketing for law firms may not currently involve the use of social networking or Web 2.0 in most cases, the door is wide open for those who choose to jump in now.
